Along with our colleagues at Atlantic Design, we are delighted to be associated with the conception, development and launch of EAO’s new “Passenger Interface” personal device charging products launched at the recent Railtex exhibition. Having been involved since the earliest concept stages, and having invited EAO to take part, Graham would like to thank and congratulate all those who have worked so hard to bring this exciting new range of products to market.
The holster version was originally conceived as a way to give something back to rail commuters who have to spend some or all of their daily journey standing. It can be fitted to grab poles and partitions, allowing it to be used in even the most crowded conditions. For phones with inductive charging, no wires are required and, of course, the device can also be fitted to seat backs.
Every charger incorporates iBeacon technology that transmits a unique ID to locate the vehicle and seat position for smart ticketing, on-board passenger information and for tailored marketing messages.
We are now working on installation programmes with several leasing companies, train operators and vehicle manufacturers and we look forward to these projects rolling out over the coming months.
The Passenger Interface chargers have been designed from the outset to meet the challenging demands of the rail environment including durability, crashworthiness, future-proofing, maintainability, fire performance and electro-magnetic compatibility. The charging holster, which firmly retains the phone as it charges, also has applications in other dynamic environments such as buses, taxis, ferries and private yachts.
